Homemade Wind Turbine Generator VAWT Vertical

Homemade Vertical Wind Turbine mounted behind my wall and isn’t visible from the street. Perfect turbine for HOA areas and in cities that won’t allow mast mounted turbines. This is a wing lift prototype I’m getting some numbers from to create an improved designed. I believe these are the future of wind energy. I also have so other alternative energy concepts on the drawing board I’ll post in the future. This intellectual property belongs to myself. However, please feel free to use this design for non-commercial purposes (your own home turbine). © 2009-2010 imikewillrockyou

would you know where i can get good magnet alternators over 1000w good for winds around 5 to 8mph

  3. brianjoreski says:

thank you so much from ohio. this gave me a great idea….floor fan used in construction turned upright? im gonna try it. keep posting great videos like this.

Please state how much power this thing produces and at what rpm. Thank you.

  5. imikewillrockyou says:

@joeinbend I doubt doubling the stators would be of much benefit and might actually increase turbulence. I would stick with the eight.

  6. stephenkurti says:

The outer fixed vanes do they have any other function apart from being part of the frame structure, like reducing wind turbulance before it hits the blades?

  7. danz177 says:

All you need to do now is drop a solar panel on top of it and you’re good. : ) I love it, it looks very cool.

  8. 100CommonCents says:

@MrMatt027 except for downward wind… man i hate downward wind!

  9. MrMatt027 says:

I like the design. You can capture the wind from almost any direction.

  10. joeinbend says:

It seems the purpose of the “stators” on the exterior of the housing are to help direct wind to the left side of the turbine, and simultaneously help block wind on the right side, is that correct? If so, and I think you elude to this in your build video series, wouldn’t it be beneficial to double the number of stators, blocking more wind on the right side?

Your Vertical Wind Turbine is the best I’ve seen, I would like to build one for my home, could I get a copy of your Tubine Plans? Is this unit hooked up to your electrical grid? Or is it connected to a Battery, and only powering limited items at your home?

would i be fine using an alternator with a verticle wind turbine if i have a gear box or two in the setup? besides it’ll be fine without a gear box if you have that vert wind turbine attached to an electric car

  13. Beethoven2949 says:

great design amazing very unique i think you put a lot of making and money into this i suggest you might want to put in a brake system so big winds dont destroy it but amazing still

  14. Anothercoilgun says:

Amazing how a city can tell you what to do down to the curtains in the house. Sorry to hear about your hoa situation :)

    Good work.

    Nice piece of work .
I live in a country where power shortage is a national issue .
loadshedding of 6-16 hours a day in summer is a norm .
Interested to make wind power for my home use .
    power required is about 10KW.
I live near a beach maybe good for windmills.

Kindly provide me with your DIY-wind turbine details .

Mike… couldn’t find your design on your channel, where should I look? or do I need to subscribe to find it?

  19. gypsyman1967 says:

The amtex 38 will work but you need to gear it up. The Amtex 30 would have been better. or Amtex 90 the best, but trying to find them, thats the hard part

to the guy that posted the video. I dont know anything about power at all but am going to build a wind turbine. I am not interested in anyones comments nor will i read them except for the owner of this video. with that turbine how many light bulbs could I light at once say they are 60 watt bulbs and thats all i want to know. Thank you.

  21. scamsearcher says:

Beware Missouri Wind and solar’s PMA- They do not work. I have 2 of them and neither of them worked as promised

  22. scamsearcher says:

    Blocked

  23. smclane6 says:

@TopOfTheLine3 You use a blocking diode in series with the positive wire. Basicly acts like a one way valve for current to flow one direction.

  24. smclane6 says:

@josheskimo You actually need to produce more voltage to start charging the battery. There are PMA generators that look like a regular car alternator, but they are modified for wind turbines. Produce power at low RPMs. A regulat car alternator requires too many RPMs, which is too fast for wind application.

  25. TopOfTheLine3 says:

if you hook it to a battery to charge it, what stops the power from the battery just running the mottor

  26. walkertongdee says:

cant help thinking about the car crashes where the stop sign used to be.

  27. PimpXXXGuitarist says:

    @smclane6 WINNING!

  28. PimpXXXGuitarist says:

    @YoLninYo I know, RIGHT!?

    NOT winning, duh!?

  29. windturbinesinc says:

The other way for you to lessen your daily expenses in your energy consumption is to generate your own electricity. This can happen by simply using wind turbines in producing wind energy with this device. This can help a lot in your finances. The effectiveness of wind turbines was already tested by other countries and can now be seen in most household around the world. This can also be used as a good replacement for generator.

  30. 1freedom101 says:

have you seen how others are adding magnets to increase the output?

  31. superjezz says:

@josheskimo no you need to be making more power than the battery for the electricity to flow into it…. Eg. you can only fill a water tank from a river if the river is higher than the tank……

  32. josheskimo says:

Even if is isn’t generating 12v would it still trickle charge a 12v battery and how long do you think this would take? Why didn’t you use a car alternator?
Also If you made the blades larger do you think you could gear it to spin the motor faster? Thank you.

  33. 2JobsStillPoorUSA says:

@YoLninYo Way to jump to conclusions…. WTF?!

  34. helloman1976 says:

@smclane6 Wider blades or more blades would do the trick. Also using PVC is extremely dangerous as it deteriorates in the sun and will eventually become very sharp shrapnel flying through the air. You should for sure consider using gearing as that’s really how wind turbines make power.

  35. graywackeknifebdr says:

Free energy can change the world! But some very powerfull ppl don’t want you and me to be free from energy costs,Get a real free energy motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,take part in the revolution!

  36. smclane6 says:

@shartne Got motor from Ebay. I do have my wind generator mounted above my house now, approx 26 feet in the air. (I need to post an updated video…) I live in a low wind area. (FL) I need about a 12 mph wind to start charging batteries over 12V. I generally see anywhere from 1-3 amps on a breezy day. 4-8 amps in more gusty wind which is only before a storm. So basicly it’s a fancy, neat looking trickle charger. I dont recomend the Ametek motors. Spend alittle more for a PMA. More wind helps too

  37. smclane6 says:

@TheEmcol Well yes that can work, however you would need much more torque to turn the motor. Bigger and more blades.
