@hex4def6 Thats why i made an update video not using the harbor freight panels and i prob would have did something better but the day i made it the wind was whipping it around!! And i could be wrong but these are amorphous panels they do better in less sunlight because the more sun the worse they are because they get to hot….but the bungee is getto i agree..

  2. hex4def6 says:

**NOTE**: The strapping you’ve put over the front of the panels is robbing power from power from your array, and can actually damage your array.

When you shade solar cells, its worse than just missing out on the extra unshaded area; those cells will actually start sucking power from the rest of the array, and get really really hot. Hot enough to destroy them / crack glass, etc.

    So, fix that :)

@XPMAD i don’t get it and neither does google

  5. fanman1981 says:

@vinhtvu2 sounds to technical didn’t want to go down that road..

@iToasterman I guest it depends on what you consider young im 30 now and was 25 when i bought this house so i guess yeah im young but i can’t suckle from mamma’s tit for to long………….

Good job, really great stuff. Very impressed.

  11. vinhtvu2 says:

What’s the output you’re getting with it? Each kit is 45watt correct?
If you use two LEDs and a microcontroller, you can create an actual solar tracker to track the sun instead of just a rough timer…

Great vid….nice idea, but the execution looks a bit rocky, If you can elongate the bearings surfaces, ie could you put some diagonal struts,(could even be just rigging wire), down to a ring, loose bearing on the supporting tube, so under wind loadings the movement should have some additional bracing. Great that you’ve got a full south facing yard. When the ali based panels come in you’ll be able to cover the deck in them.
